You Can't Laugh Unless You're Smiling

Stephen Lynch again. This is some years back, but nonetheless a classic.

Three Months Too Early

February will be here sooner than you expect. In the mean time... Josh Groban, an unbelievable voice.

Lehamite

This is what I feel when I look at Romanian politics. The politics of the last 20 years. To bad you still can't translate voice directly. YouTube could use that feature.

Lehamite = deep disgust.

It's one thing to have a substandard, poor country. It's another to see it destroyed from the inside.

Today's Food ...

... is evil. Well, at least part of it.

Listen to this speech held by Dr. Adiel Tel-Oren at Google:

... and to other interesting information that he provides on this website. Quite interesting, isn't it?

But I think it's not as important why you change your life. For example, as interesting as these videos are, I've been more influenced (recently) by the "Food, Inc." documentary. As a result, I've gone vegetarian again after 3 years.

If the cars won't go green, I will! :D

P.S.: I'm seriously considering writing down my experiences in this small journey I call "The road back to 80 kg". You might find more posts about it here in the future.

Voting Abroad

As the second round of the Romanian presidential elections is moving closer, I feel I need to highlight something to other people who live abroad and have voting rights.

Contrary to what you might think, voting in a foreign country will most probably help the current government and president, whoever you vote for. Let me explain a bit...

First of all, I've been part of a commission in the 2004 for presidential elections, and I have seen who things are being handled in the "mioric" country of Romania. Honestly, I believe there hasn't been a relatively straight election in Romania since the beginning of time. Votes can be shifted, votes can be canceled by the commission. Now the important part is that, due to the presence of a member of every or almost every party, this process is usually pretty balanced. Of course, this is not a rule...

But the bigger problem appears when the commission is... well, one sided. And now think about it - you're going to vote at an embassy or consulate. Who's there supervising the process? Only people put in those position by the current government. Obviously, it's extremely easy for them to cancel or reorient some of your votes, and no one would ever know. I mean, who would see it in a secure environment, such as an embassy? Maybe there are other nations "listening" in on the process, but usually they don't care. It would be unbelievable for them to come out with the information that something like that is happening in an embassy. It would be like shooting themselves in the legs.

I just brought this up because, for example, the representative of the Green Romanian Party was expected to get a higher percentage of the votes last week, especially from the foreign voting sections. And what happened? The opposite. Why? Because there's NO ONE checking for what's happening in an embassy. Who can control it? Press? No. Other parties? No. Secret services? Oh yes. But that doesn't count.

So, next time you vote, you might wanna think again what you are doing. I'm not saying don't vote, I'm saying do it in your country, not in an isolated place.

The truth is out there!

Disgusting, But Awesome

I usually adore inventions that are simple and extremely efficient. So then, this would be such an example:

A similar invention, in terms of simplicity, and even with a higher level of usefulness is the LifeStraw! Having the possibility of drinking and purifying any water... I mean, wow. And then it's also portable. Simply great. This is where humankind should invest more, in research that enables life.

B-Bye!
